I love making truffles. They’re another easy homemade gift that can be done in a hurry.
Adding orange to these really makes them zing PLUS, they make a good spread for biscotti (think Nutella).
You Will Need:
300 ml double cream
1 knob salted butter
1tsp finely grated of an orange
300 g dark chocolate, broken into small pieces
Orange flavouring (I recommend Sainsbury Taste the Difference).
1 pinch sea salt
Cocopowder or Coconut Flakes to serve.
This is the first time that I’ve made my truffles this way and I have to say that its much easier than melting the chocolate and then adding it to the cream.
Place the cream in a pan and put over a medium heat. Once it starts to warm through (be careful not to let it boil) and add the butter and orange zest.
Remove from the heat once the the butter has melted and pour over the chocolate pieces, whisking whilst you go. Add a glug of brandy, a pinch of sea salt and some orange flavouring and continue to whisk until all the chocolate has melted.
Place in the fridge and leave for around 2-3 hours to set (even better if you can leave them overnight).
When you’re ready to make your truffles have a bowl of coconut flakes and some coco powder on hand because you’re going to use these as your toppings. Scoop out, mould in to a ball with your hands and then dip them in the topping.
