I just love puff pastry. It’s so versatile and quick. Whenever I’m stuck for an idea of what to make the puff pastry tart usually makes an appearance.
These Camembert and broccoli tarts were the perfect Friday night dinner
I bought all my ingredients from Aldi which when you’re after veggies and cheese is the place with the best price tag.
As well as being utterly gorgeous these tarts are also extremely easy to make.
What you need:
Broccoli 39p
Camembert £1.39
Ready Rolled Puff pastry 99p*
Mushrooms 50p
1 Onion 39p
Bag of salad £1
Total = £4.66
Method:
– Chop the broccoli in to small pieces.
– Dice your onion and mushrooms before frying them in a tiny bit of butter, when cooked to your liking add the broccoli for about 1-2 minutes
– Cut out four squares (or as many as you need) of puff pastry
– Spoon your onion, mushroom and broccoli mix on to the pastry
– Cut your camembert in to thin slices {I left the rind on as we like it and it creates a great lattice effect}
– Place your slices of camembert over the broccoli, mushroom and onion mix.
– The simply pop in the oven at around 200c (gas mark 7) for about 20 minutes
And you’re done.
Serve with a green salad
A real simple, tasty dish. I’m always on the look out for other puff pastry recipes so feel free to share your favourites below.
* leave your puff pastry out at room temp for approx 20 mins before cooking.
