Love Kombucha

Kombucha: is a raw, fermented, probiotic, and naturally carbonated tea.

Yesterday I had the best day at the BBC Good Food show. It was so good to see an increase in stalls promoting healthy, natural living. However my day got even better when I stumbled across @lovekombucha.

If you’ve not tried or heard of Kombucha yet then you need to give it a go. It’s a naturally fizzy, fermented tea based drink. It’s uses a SCOBY (AKA symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to eat away at the sugar which results in a healthy, gut healing drink.

So why drink Kombucha? Well, as I mentioned above, it’s a great probiotic, increases energy, treats candida and improves pancreas function. It’s also stuffed with antioxidants and is a home remedy for acne, fatigue, hypertension, headaches, and constipation.

It can also help in the treatment of depression, arthritis and heartburn – so the health benefits really are jam packed.

{A benefit you may like if you enjoy a tipple: because it detoxifies the liver, it’s one of the best hangover cures you’ll ever find! You can even use it as a mixer with vodka/gin and not even get a whiff of a hangover.}

I find that it’s best to drink Kombucha cold. A small glass in the morning just to get your day off to a good start. It’s also good to have a small nip after dinner, because of its digestive qualities.

Over to you…do you drink Kombucha?

  2. I went through a huge kombucha phase a few months ago! Realized how much I was spending on it and decided to make my own. Had a pretty nice scoby before I totally forgot to actually brew it and it went bad lol.

    1. It is SO expensive!! I am really tempted to having a go and make my own but I think that when I see it in its full grossness I’ll be put off for life.
