OK so I know it’s Wednesday but how was your weekend? Mine was fabulous – I channelled my inner Audrey Hepburn and headed to The Goodwood Revival festival – and had an absolute blast.
It was my first time at the festival and I was a little apprehensive since I’m not a huge fan of cars and motor racing but I’ve been converted. To be honest, anything with a great champagne bar and I’m bound to fall in love.
Anyway for those of you not in the know, The Goodwood Revival festival is a mix of classic cars, aviation and vintage fashion.
It’s a great opportunity to dress up, enjoy some old school glamour and enter a time capsule of the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

If you’re thinking of going then try to book now (I say try as I’ve already looked for accommodation and everywhere seems sold out already). We left it too late and ended up staying at the Warner Leisure Lakeside Resort on Hayling Island which was expensive and quite frankly disappointing – but more about that later in the week.
Also make sure you that either take plenty of cash or a picnic hamper full of treats. We wish we’d gone down the picnic basket route as we ended up spending about £350 over the two days (that’s not including entry or accommodation).
Average prices: A cup of tea/coffee £1.90, a pint of beer costs around £4, a burger £4, a small tray of chips and bottle of cola was £5.50, cheese on toast was £5 for 2 slices (which was gorgeous until I dropped mine on the grass but on the plus side I had salad included in the price) and a small glass of squash was a whopping £2.20. Of course these are festival prices so it’s obvious that they’re going to be on the higher side. In fact, a picnic hamper, a cosy blanket and a few bottles of bubbly is probably a more pleasant experience.
We saw lots of celebs including Ewan McGregor and Rowan Atkinson race < exciting stuff.
Some of the outfits were amazing, I think now that I’ve been and seen the level of effort some of the women put in to their clothes I’ll be a lot bolder with my outfit next time. I am now longing for 40’s and 50’s fashion to make a comeback. It was a shame that not everyone dressed up but it’s not essential so it was their prerogative – but if you go – dress up – you won’t regret it.

Entry to the event cost £56 per day but you can buy weekend tickets which are slightly cheaper. If you want grandstand tickets they cost an extra £56 per day.
I’m already looking forward to going back next year!

@rachaelphillips Didn’t go the revival myself but was told it had something very modern too: http://t.co/0NLAaLdh
@Yoostin Didn’t see them but look at the price. So expensive (or I’m really cheap not sure)
@rachaelphillips apparently Hotels gouge like mad around the Festival of Speed and Revival. £200 between 3 people & on site. Not terrible
@Yoostin Well not it’s not too bad compared to what I paid but then I suppose if there’s only two of you £700+ (which we paid) for 2 days is
@Yoostin quite a lot for a weekend – especially when you add how much you spend on top.
@rachaelphillips Not cheap I know. But it’s hardly a p*ss-up in Swansea on 3 for £5 drinks deals and crashing in the £49 travel lodge room
@Yoostin Errr I didn’t say it was!!
@rachaelphillips Soz, missed a tweet.
Wow I would love to get to Goodwood one year!

@KatDn7 @debsylee I’d love to go stay at the hotel in the grounds. I have so many more pics, difficult to know which ones to pic 🙂
